Teddit is a free and open source alternative Reddit front-end focused on privacy. Teddit doesn’t require you to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Features

Key features of Teddit include the complete absence of JavaScript or ads, thus minimizing data tracking and maintaining a clean user interface. All communication is routed through the backend which means your device never directly interacts with Reddit. This mechanism significantly reduces the possibility of Reddit tracking your IP address or JavaScript fingerprint.

In terms of technical efficiency, Teddit outperforms Reddit by a wide margin. With around 30 HTTP requests and approximately 270 KB of data downloaded for the frontpage, Teddit is lightweight compared to Reddit's approximately 190 requests with around 24 MB of data for the same page. Add to this its unofficial API that supports RSS & JSON without any rate limits or requirement for a Reddit account, and you have an incredibly user-friendly platform.

Moreover, Teddit allows anyone to set up their instance. These instances can either use Reddit's API with or without OAuth, meaning that having a Reddit API key is not mandatory. This self-hostability promotes decentralization while preserving user freedom and control.

With no link to a GitHub repository in our database, it is hard to estimate the project viability.
